The Living Building Challenge (LBC) pushes designers and building owners to create self-sufficient, regenerative buildings. It is much more than a certification system, it is also a philosophy that calls for the creation of buildings that operate as cleanly, beautifully and efficiently as nature's architecture.
This approach is consistent with Tenant Brown's values and principles.
LBC comprises seven performance areas, called Petals: site, water, energy, health, materials, equity and beauty. Unlike many other certification systems, the Living Building Challenge is performance-based and measures actual rather than expected performance after the building’s first operational year.
